                               ===============


This version of Loft Manager is a demo only, the Race and Calendar modules
are not included.  The demo will allow only 11 of your own birds/records
to be added to the database.  To order the full version of Loft Manager, 
fill out the order form at http://www.loftmanager.com, or send an 
email to jboyle61@msn.com.  If you wish to request an order by postal

To download and extract/unzip the demo, follow the instructions 
"DOWNLOADING LOFT MANAGER" as seen below.  To install the demo, follow the 
instructions below that apply to your version of Windows.  Once you begin
the demo program, follow the instructions "WHAT TO DO IN THE DEMO" at the 
end of this document to view each of the major components with the pre-added 
records in the database.


DOWNLOADING LOFT MANAGER
========================

Click the link labeled "Download Loft Manager Demo Version (1.8MB)."
Save the file LM_Demo.zip to a temporary directory (eg. C:\Temp).  After you
have finished saving the file, unzip LM_Demo.zip in the temporary directory.  
If you have WinZip, simply double-click on the LM_Demo.zip file in its 
directory.  If you are using PkUnzip, go to a DOS prompt and change to the 
directory in which the LM_Demo.zip file is located.  Once there, type
"pkunzip LM_Demo.zip" (without quotation marks) and hit <ENTER>.


INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS 3.1
============================

In the Program Manager, click File on the menu bar, then click Run.  Type 
the path to the setup file you extracted from LM_Demo.zip 
(eg. "C:\TEMP\SETUP"), or select the Browse button to find the file.  Once
you've specified the path, click OK to begin the Loft Manager Demo setup 
program.  You will be prompted for a directory path into which the program 
will install the demo, the default is "C:\LM_DEMO".  The setup program will 
then extract the necessary files into the directory and create a program 
manager group with a Loft Manager Demo icon.  Double-click this icon to 
begin the demo program.


INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS 95
===========================

Click the Start button, then click Run. Type the path to the setup file
you extracted from LM_Demo.zip (eg. "C:\TEMP\SETUP"), or select the Browse
button to find the file.  Once you've specified the path, click OK to begin
the Loft Manager Demo setup program.  You will be prompted for a directory
path into which the setup program will install the demo, the default is
"C:\LM_DEMO".  The setup program will then extract the necessary files into
the directory and create a startup group with a Loft Manager Demo icon.
Double-click this icon to begin the demo program, or select it from your
start menu.


WHAT TO DO IN THE DEMO
======================

Once you've completed the installation and have started the Loft Manager
Demo program, click the Find Bird button on the right hand side of the
screen.  Type "WCP" (without quotation marks).  You will see the program
automatically select the record "WCP-21/86" below.  Click OK.  The program
will build the Pedigree detail for the selected bird, namely WCP-21/86.
Click Reports from the menu bar and then click Pedigree Chart to see how
Loft Manager prints the pedigree reports.

To view the Progeny detail, select the Progeny tab.  Since the current bird,
WCP-21/86, does not have any progeny, nothing will appear in the detail.
Click the Find Bird button again, and type "FRC" to select the bird 
"FRC-1514/80" that will more aptly show this detail.  Click Reports from the
menu bar and then click Progeny Listing to see how Loft Manager prints a
progeny report of each bird.

Click the Find Bird button again, and type "MAGIC" to select the next record
for the Racing detail.  Click the Racing tab to view this bird's racing 
history.  Since the Race module has not been included in the demo program, 
you will not be able to enter this information for any new birds you might 
add to the database.

Lastly, choose File | Setup from the menu bar to build a custom layout of 
the program's components.  Also, be sure to select Reports | Custom Listing 
to experience Loft Manager's self-customized report capabilities.
